Week 25 — Sunday

"Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, He Who in His great mercy gave us new birth; a birth unto hope which draws its life from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." —1 Peter 1:3

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"On the first day of the week, at dawn, the women came to the tomb bringing spices they had prepared." —Lk 24:1

Conversation:

Abba: Child, I'll never forget Sunday, the day My Son, your older Brother, came out of the grave. It's also the day when it became possible for you to rise from the dead. Don't ever let Sunday go by without rejoicing in My Son's resurrection.
Child: Abba, may I not let the devil rob me of Sunday. I feel so drained much of the time. May I let You fill me each Sunday.

Response:

Obey the third commandment.

Monday

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." —Mk 2:27-28

Conversation:

Abba: Child, since My Son Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, He changed it from the seventh to the first day. You can still have a day of rest, but it can also be a day of resurrection through spiritual nourishment and healing. The Lord's Day is My day, but it's made for you. I give it as a gift.
Child: Abba, You gave Your Son to die for me. You gave me forgiveness, salvation, freedom, and healing. You gave me abundant life (Jn 10:10). Now You give me a special day.

Response:

Obey all you've read in this book that you have put off.

Tuesday

"On the Lord's day I was caught up in ecstasy, and I heard behind me a piercing voice like the sound of a trumpet." —Rv 1:10

Conversation:

Abba: Child, is Sunday the center of your life? Do you remember last Sunday and look forward to next Sunday? No matter how drab and dreary your circumstances, expect Sunday to be great.
Child: Abba, I've gotten what I've expected each Sunday. I just haven't expected much. Forgive me for not letting You love me. May I have some personal and intimate time with You each Sunday.

Response:

Obey the voice of God inside you.

Wednesday

"On the first day of each week everyone should put aside whatever he has been able to save." —1 Cor 16:2

Conversation:

Abba: Child, I want to give you so much more. But the measure you measure with will be measured back to you (Lk 6:38). Give more so I can give more. Make Sunday the greatest giving day. It will also be the greatest receiving day.
Child: Abba, Sunday is becoming exciting. I feel like a kid again. I feel fresh, new, and renewed. Life is a joy. I give all the credit to You.

Response:

Obey God's command to tithe (Mal 3:10).

Thursday

"On the first day of the week when we gathered for the breaking of bread, Paul preached to them." —Acts 20:7

Conversation:

Abba: Child, do you remember good old-fashioned Sunday dinner with homemade bread, fried chicken, and homemade ice cream? I'd like to feed you with the finest wheat (Ps 147:14). Feast on My word. Make it not the Lord's hour but the Lord's Day.
Child: Abba, You're making me hungry. Now I'm not fighting the move of the Spirit but flowing with it. I'm starting to feel the rhythm of Your plan of salvation.

Response:

Obey the call to dance to God's eternal rhythm.

Friday

"Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day." —Ex 20:8

Conversation:

Abba: Child, I gave you a commandment concerning the Sabbath because I knew your slavery would prevent you from setting aside Sunday. I command you emphatically: "Keep holy the Lord's Day." No work, no shopping, no slavery—just freedom and time with Me.
Child: Abba, You're ruining my life-style, but my life-style is ruining me.

Response:

Obey and go to Confession.

Saturday

"If you hold back your foot on the Sabbath from following your own pursuits on My holy day; if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the Lord's holy day honorable; if you honor it by not following your ways, seeking your own interests, or speaking with malice—then you shall delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth." —Is 58:13-14

Conversation:

Abba: Child, you don't realize it, but in My plan of salvation one of the keys to revival is the restoration of Sunday as the rhythm of the Christian community. Fight for Sunday.
Child: Abba, I'm in the middle of being robbed and I don't have enough sense to call for help. By Your power, I overcome the devil, disarm him, and demand the return of all stolen goods, especially Sunday.

Response:

Obey God and attack the devil (2 Cor 10:4-6).
