"My angel will go before you and bring you to..." —Exodus 23:23

Guardian angels are guarding us "on the way...to the place" the Lord has prepared for us (Ex 23:20). Thus, the job of guardian angels is to get us where we belong. Guarding is not their main job; it is the means to accomplish their main job.

To rightly and fully employ our guardian angels, we need to know not only that the Lord has a place for us in heaven but also what place the Lord has prepared for us on earth in His body, the Church (see Jn 14:2). In other words, we need to know our vocations, our major callings from God. It is the job of the guardian angels to get us to our God-given place by guarding us from any attempts to keep us from living fully our vocations. For example, it is the job of guardian angels to make sure that those called to be priests become priests and be the best priests they can be — no matter what the obstacles or difficulties. We need guardian angels so that our marriages and families are great, lay people are transforming the secular society, single people are pointing us to heaven, religious are renewing the church, etc. Angels will do all they can do if you will be all that you can be.

Prayer:  Father, send the guardian angels to be enemies to my enemies (Ex 23:22).

Promise:  "For to His angels He has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways." —Ps 91:11

Praise:  Guardian angels protect us physically and spiritually in countless ways that won't be revealed until we meet them in heaven.
