COMMUNITIES MASS PROPHECIES - MAY 29, 2009
The Word Gift’s Ministry has selected two prophecies to be read tonight. We wished to also give you the fuller meaning that the Lord has impressed upon us in regard to this message of God’s “now” Word, the Rhema.
The committee felt that God is giving us a strong “call to action.” Now is the time to not just sit there, but move forward with God’s plans. Last year we were told that the Lord was going to be opening doors and to get ready and be prepared. We believe that – at this very time -- He is opening wide the doors to the despairing, the brokenhearted, the lost, and prisoners.
Our “call to action” may involve the spiritual gift of martyrdom. Martyrdom is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to undergo suffering for the faith even to death while consistently displaying a joyous and victorious attitude that brings glory to God.
There are both “red” and “white” martyrs. “Red” martyrs are those whose lives are given up for the faith in death. “White” martyrs are those who lay down their lives every day through persecution and difficulties for the spread of the Gospel.
Joshua 24:14-15 -- "Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him completely and sincerely. Cast out the gods your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. If it does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your fathers served beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose country you are dwelling. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
The second prophecy was from the gospel of John. We received this word and then found that it was the reading for the day.
John 21:15-19 – “When they had eaten their meal, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘you know that I love you.’ At which Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’ A second time He put His question, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ Peter said, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus replied, ‘Tend My sheep.’ A third time Jesus asked him, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me?’ Peter was hurt because He had asked a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ So he said to Him, ‘Lord, you know everything. You know well that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’
‘I tell you solemnly; as a young man you fastened your belt and went about as you pleased’ but when you are older you will stretch out your hands, and another will tie you fast and carry you off against you will’ (What He said indicated the sort of death by which Peter was to glorify God.) When Jesus had finished speaking He said to him, ‘Follow me.’”
