on the road again

"Then they recounted what had happened on the road." —Luke 24:35

The two disciples on the road to Emmaus were not witnesses for the risen Christ but against Him. Likewise, many Christians today conceal rather than reveal the risen Lord Jesus. Jesus transformed His two disciples by interpreting "for them every passage of Scripture which referred to Him" (Lk 24:27). This caused their hearts to burn and be purified (see Lk 24:32). After they had pressed Jesus to stay with them (Lk 24:29), their eyes were opened in the breaking of the bread, that is, they recognized the risen Christ in the Eucharist (Lk 24:35). We likewise can be changed from burying the good news of the risen Christ into burning with zeal to be bold witnesses for Him.

Hear, study, read, share, and pray God's word daily. Make any sacrifices necessary to go to Mass each day. Make visits to the Blessed Sacrament. Adore our risen, eucharistic Lord. As Jesus changes bread and wine into His body and blood, He will remove your spiritual apathy and blindness and replace it with risen joy and love.

If you have "little sense" and are slow to believe (Lk 24:25), there is hope for you. Jesus is still walking the road to Emmaus. Get on the road. Read and do the Bible. Live and love the Mass. Jesus wants to do road work in you.

Prayer:  Father, send the Holy Spirit to do road work in my life.

Promise:  "Then Peter took him by the right hand and pulled him up. Immediately the beggar's feet and ankles became strong." —Acts 3:7

Praise:  Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life"! (Jn 11:25) Praise Jesus, our only Hope, Joy, Love, Lord, and God!
