indwelt and indwelling

"The Lord Jesus on the night in which He was betrayed took bread, and after He had given thanks, broke it and said, 'This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.'" —1 Corinthians 11:23-24

To be pregnant, to have a person living in you for nine months, is a life-changing experience. To have a person living in each of us not only for nine months but forever is mind-boggling. To have God living in the person of each Christian is astounding. To be living in God simultaneously with Him living in us is beyond comprehension. The Lord wants to be so mysteriously in communion and intimacy with each of us that He has made it possible for us to have a double indwelling — He in each one of us and we in Him (see Jn 17:23).

The Trinity created this communion, intimacy, and double indwelling by baptizing us into Jesus (Rm 6:3) and through Jesus into the Father and the Holy Spirit. We express and deepen our baptismal communion by celebrating the eucharist and receiving the body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. In this covenant of blood (see 1 Cor 11:25), we love the indwelling and indwelt Trinity with all our hearts, all our souls, all our minds, and all our strength (Lk 10:27). Moreover, we so love our brothers and sisters in Trinitarian communion that we wash their feet as Jesus washed His apostles' (Jn 13:5). This symbolizes loving our brethren enough to lay down our lives for them (1 Jn 3:16).

Live communion, intimacy, indwellings, blood-covenant, and crucified love forever.

Prayer:  Father, send the Holy Spirit to teach me about Holy Communion.

Promise:  "This day shall be a memorial feast for you, which all your generations shall celebrate with pilgrimage to the Lord, as a perpetual institution." —Ex 12:14

Praise:  Praise Jesus, hidden in humility and love under the appearance of bread and wine.
